What is the most effective way to grow an email list?
Tap into audiences that have already been created by someone else.
As Seth Godin puts it, your job is not to build a tribe from scratch.
Nike did not invent the running tribe; there were already runners before Nike showed up.
You need to find communities where your target persona already hangs out, extend your hand and invite them over to your party.
Now, all of that sounds great, but how do you actually do that?
One of the most effective ways is to guest blog with content upgrades.
By posting valuable content on a blog with an engaged audience, you're reaching people in numbers that would've taken you months or years to reach. However, this doesn't mean the people who enjoyed your post are going with you now.
To add them to your audience, you need to offer a content upgrade in your post.
Content upgrades is the single most effective tactic for growing an email list through blogging, and when combined with guest posting, it's tha bomb.
