Ugh.
You know what these emails and blog posts always miss?
94% of people don't keep their resolutions. And that creates a lot of problems.
The biggest one?
When we FAIL at our resolutions... we start to distrust ourselves.
Real example from Reddit:
"I don't trust myself anymore because I failed to start too many times": https://www.reddit.com/r/getdisciplined/comments/1wb3dt/i_dont_trust_myself_anymore_because_i_failed_to/
"I don't follow through at all. I plan everything every upcoming week or so... And I watch life pass me by... I don't know what's holding me back. It's not depression... I rarely do anything that holds any water so why should I trust myself anyway? I made too many empty promises."
Popular New Year's advice focuses on "motivation" and tactics. But what happens when motivation dies?
You don't lose 50 pounds in January. You don't build a business in 4 days.
You need something to carry you through once the excitement wears off -- a system.
Whether it means starting a business, quitting a job, or taking a dream vacation to Thailand, the people who hit their goals and change their lives take a different approach.
Study how they do it and you notice they have three things in common:
- They're hyper-specific
- They know their biggest weakness and have a plan to overcome it
- They give themselves a deadline
Think about it. Which person is more likely to take the vacation:
PERSON A: "I've wanted to visit Thailand for 2 years. I really hope I can go one day. I've just been so busy at work..."
PERSON B: "I've wanted to see Thailand for 2 years and I'm tired of waiting. On Monday I'm going to talk to my boss and arrange 2 weeks off in March so I can visit Chiang Mai when the weather is perfect. To guarantee I do it, I'm buying my plane tickets by the end of the week."
We all have a list of things we'd love to do "someday." Setting a deadline forces you to get specific and stop dreaming.
That's why I'm excited to tell you about my friend Ramit Sethi's Bucket List Challenge.
Over the course of four days, Ramit will show you what it takes to knock off your #1 bucket list item by March 31. Sign up for the challenge and these could be the most important 4 days of 2017.
If you've ever wanted to:
- Go skydiving
- See your favorite comedian live
- Finally lose the weight and walk around knowing you look amazing
Ramit will show you how.
Over the last 12 years Ramit has turned a blog (which he started in his dorm room and nobody read) into a multimillion-dollar business. He's been featured in the Wall Street Journal and Forbes. He's even been invited to speak at Google, Hustle Con, and 99U.
But most importantly, Ramit has helped millions of people live a Rich Life using psychology and tested, step-by-step systems that work in the real world.
If you're serious about your resolution this year...
If you want this year to be different than last year...
If you want to go from talking about it, to doing it...
Don't miss out.
