One of the myths on the web today is that the people we look up to were mysteriously placed there by alien forces. They have some unknowable advantage over us that made them rise to the top.

But that's not the case at all. Everybody starts at the bottom. Everybody can rise to the top. This post will prove it.

My friend Mark Schaefer just finished writing his sixth book, The Handbook for Building and Unleashing Your Personal Brand in the Digital Age.

The book is the result of more than a year of research conducted to answer one burning question: Is it possible for anybody today to use the Internet to become known in their field?

To answer this question Mark interviewed about 100 people who are at the top of their field. He talked to people who are regarded as thought leaders in education, real estate, retail, construction, business, medicine, finance, fashion, music, art, and many more. He talked to people in Africa, Asia, Brazil, Canada, Australia, America, Mexico, Europe, and the Middle East.

Pardon me for being "OFFLine" for so long, my Mom & her brother, my Uncle in their late 80s has joined Father, Grandmama and GR8-Grand... they're with Jehova, Jesus & David... they've had a long life grand/ GR8 grandmama lived to be 103 yo they all died of one kind of cancer or another... breast or prostate seems to be the most prevalent for those who lived in in developed countries... my brother(s) and I are "alone," now in separate corners of the world... luckily we live in a "Global Village" many of us pursue a vocation in one country, live in another and vacation in a third ( .or. live in one state, work in another and vacation in a third )... to be present when it matters, we board a plane like some folks board a taxi and be anywhere in the world within 24 hrs...
