It’s true!
As I have learned marketing over the years, I am always amazed at how one little tweak to a capture page, or one little change to a way of doing something can improve or detract from the conversion rate.
To me it’s an exciting adventure that always keeps the passionate marketer fired up and locked into the challenge.
Today I want to give you 5 YouTube hacks that you might not have known about that can make all the difference in your marketing efforts.
Hack #1: Use Engaging Video Thumbnails
Believe it or not, I still see many not using this when creating videos on YouTube. The truth is you need a way to grab the viewers attention from the search results to get them to even watch your video.
I have learned over the years in marketing that doing something a little different to stand out on the page is always important and will increase your click through rates.
The best way to do this with YouTube is to have an engaging and attention-grabbing thumbnail.
For instance rather than just letting YouTube choose a random frame on your video, create a cool thumbnail using a free program like Canva and have a color that stands out on the page.
I have found Red or even a Yellow color stand out of off the page.
Here is an example on one of my videos. Just compare the YouTube generated thumbnails to the one I created and you can see a difference.
So remember next time you upload a video, take an extra 2-3 minutes and create a cool thumbnail that will pull people in to watch your video.
Hack #2: Your Link Must Contain (http://) To Be Clickable
Yes believe it or not….. I SEE PEOPLE MISS THIS ALL THE TIME!
It seems simple but many people miss the boat on this. If you want people to click off to your website, you must make sure the link you provide is clickable. If you don’t do this, you will loose lots of traffic to your site.
For example, when you put your link in the description of your video do do this (www.yourwebsite.com) it would not be clickable.
Instead, do this (http://yourwebsite.com) and the link will become an actual clickable link where people can visit your site.
This one little mistake can cost you dearly, so make sure you use this little hack to pump up the traffic.
Hack #3: Add Each Video You Upload To A Keyword Based Playlist
This is one many people don’t know. But every thing you do should be with the idea of driving traffic and views to your videos.
The best way to do this is create highly focused videos based on relevant keywords. You can check out a video post “Three Keys To Create ‘Lead Gettin’ YouTube Videos” for a little extra training on that one.
But keyword focused videos should be added to keyword focused “Playlists”. Why? Because playlists can rank in the search engines.
Yup, its true. Imagine that you create a series of videos all centered around the same theme or topic. Add them all to a more “Broad keyword term” playlist and your chances of ranking for that go up big time.
This is a YouTube hack that will be sure to up your video views and drive more traffic to your videos in a major way.
Hack #4: Always Include A ‘Call To Action’ In Your Videos
Every video you create should have a call to action of some sort.
A call to action in its simplicity is basically just a simple command on what to do next. That's it.
Your viewers are looking for someone to lead them to the next step. Be that person.
Never allow one piece of content to be an island. In other words, when you create a video keep in mind that it should lead to something, (i.e.,. a website, a phone number, etc.) you get my drift?
Every video you create should be considered a “Step” in the process. That’s mainly all marketing is….. just another step leading to another step.
Always include a call to action at the end of your videos, you will find your conversion rates go up because of it.
Hack #5: Check Your Audio Quality
Yes, its important. When creating a good video, keep in mind that while the video itself is important….. so is the audio.
There is nothing worse than watching a video that sounds like they are in a concrete hallway….lol
Keeping your audio in mind when creating good videos only adds to the overall experience of the viewer. Getting a high-quality mic now days is not hard and it’s pretty inexpensive.
Go to Amazon and pick up a Blue Yeti for around a hundred bucks. The quality of this mic is amazing, and it’s really not expensive.
If you are a more mobile person, which most are due to the massive use of cell phones, invest in a good lapel mic that can go with you where ever you go.
I spent about $60 on a good mic that keeps my audio sounding good no matter where I go.
