Hi,

It's an email that no blogger wants to see in their inbox…

"You are in breach of image copyright".

Those seven words are a chilling reminder of the public nature of blogging. As soon as you set up your own self-hosted WordPress site and start blogging for a living you have a responsibility to be aware of, and abide by image copyright laws.

This means for every image you use in your blogs and on your website you need to:

  • Credit the source for images that are available for reuse.
  • Buy the rights to any other images you use.

You certainly don't want to simply take images from Google Search. It's the surest way to get into trouble and invite legal action against you and your site.

To be safe, I recommend using an image marketplace which sells the rights for images, such as Shutterstock, for all of your blog image needs. Don't take the risk!

Discover over 223 million royalty-free images on Shutterstock now.

Cheers,

John
