All right, I'm going to show you some blog posts I wrote that fucking suck.
If I could reach back through a time machine and beat my old self, I would. But I can't, so instead, my penance will be mocking myself in front of 800,000 people.
You guys should try this sometime. Embarrassment is a powerful motivator.
August 11th, 2005. Ramit rants about the price of bottled water. KILL ME. | | "I have detested bottled water since their popularity in the late 90s, when people started walking around with bottles as if they couldn't find potable water WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE OF ANYWHERE. Now I have some data to back up my disgust:
Ounce for ounce, it costs more than gasoline, even at today's high gasoline prices; depending on the brand, it costs 250 to 10,000 times more than tap water. Globally, bottled water is now a $46 billion industry." | | August 24, 2004. Why in god's name would you spend $12 to get your photos developed in an hour? Is your mother on her deathbed and just has to see the pictures this instant?
Give me a break. Stop paying for 1-hour photo processing." | | July 19, 2005. Ramit hates on...groceries? | | "Ok, I just moved into a new place so I had to buy food. This is after a long vacation where my mom asked me what I wanted to eat every morning and cooked gourmet food for every meal. So I went to the grocery store to get set up.
I watched with mounting horror as the checker rang my food up. After everything…IT COST $186.00!!! WHAT THE HELL!? I only bought things like bread, milk, eggs, BASICALLY JUST PRISON FOOD. PLEASE KILL ME." | | AHHHH god, those make me cringe.
But you know what?
I'm glad I wrote those. At least I put a finished product out there for everyone to see. And feedback I got on these "crappy" posts helped me find my writing voice and get better at what I do.
