Hi,

A good digital product is worth its weight in gold. While most content can be recycled (and indeed, recycled content may be part of your new digital product), having something stationary to offer your audience – whether that be an ebook, a webinar, a video series or anything else – is great for building brand loyalty, increasing visibility and generating conversions that your blog just won't give you.

But how exactly do you properly launch one? We all know that good things take time. Giving your digital product the boost it needs to be successful takes a bit of preparation.

There's a lot of conflicting advice on the internet about the 'right' way to approach launching a digital product, and not all of it is worth your time.

This post gives you a set of guidelines to launch a digital product.

These guidelines are based on the assumption you have a clear idea of what your digital product is and you are almost done building it – so it doesn't include obvious things like brainstorming the concept and researching the demand in the market... Read the rest of the article here.

Hi,

I have fond memories of walking up to my local Blockbuster to browse the latest VHS releases… There was one on every corner.

It was an experience, a way to kill time, a reflection on the speed of societal change before we discovered the internet.

But things are different now.

We don't have the time, headspace, or patience to trawl through hundreds of movies on a Saturday afternoon.

We want things immediately. Movies, TV series, music, or even information. We expect everything in real-time.

I've seen a lot of changes in my 60 years on this planet, but nothing quite like this.

Change is rapid. It's driven by technology, but restricted by human nature.

We don't want to go at that pace because it's scary, and the destination is unknown.

Unfortunately, we don't have a choice.

'We' being individuals, organizations and society, have to bend and break with the changing of the world or we'll get left behind... Read the rest of the article here.

Hi,

Come on, admit it.

You're just a little bit curious about all the hype surrounding Messenger bots.

Even if you haven't looked into using them in any more detail than reading the odd blog post, like this one, you probably have an interest in learning what they're all about.

But my question to you is, what's stopped you from trying them?

Let me guess: you're unsure how to get started, how to use them to grow your business, or you just don't want to get distracted by another 'new' strategy.

I get it. I felt the same. Notice the past tense.

Because here's the thing – Facebook bots don't have to be complicated. In fact, you could set up your first bot in minutes to start increasing subscribers and building your audience.

This post shares three killer ways to use Facebook Messenger bots to boost your subscribers and build your email list... Read the rest of the article here.

Exclusive Reserve Coffee From The Remote Island of Fogo, Cape Verde Islands, Africa

Starbucks Reserve® Cape Verde (CV) Fogo Island is a coffee that’s as extraordinary as the place where it’s grown. For 300 years, coffee has survived on the island of Fogo, part of the isolated Cape Verde archipelago off Africa’s western coast.

Coffee in CV Cape Verde has a rich 300 year old history of growing coffee. However, the coffee industry was on its way out. With perfect conditions for growing specialty coffee, there is potential. Acting on our instincts, we set up project proposals and through that have been able to work with the growers to bring it back to life, and its former glory, once again.

It’s extremely rewarding to see the impact this project has on the people living in Fogo, for example. Going from an industry which was slowly dying or just growing coffee that was being grown for personal use or the use of the family and surrounding community only, to seeing the growers take pride in their product again as it goes international.

Implementing techniques

Part of getting the coffee industry in Fogo and else where on the islands, back on its feet, was to offer modern tools to be able to compete. This includes knowledge, financing, certification and equipment. For example, eco-pulpers for the growers, was introduced resulting in the first ever produced washed coffee from Cape Verde. Other products provided were African drying beds, wet mills and a dry mill. Not only that but an investment was mage in the growers, through training and by paying more for the reserve coffee they produce than anyone else. Some of the growers managed to negotiate with major coffee concerns, like Starbucks to buy the red cherry instead of the dried cherry. This was especially, challenging as it includes a weight conversion. Challenges included, this project reflects the vision of doing everything we can to make a difference and come out the other end with great coffee, for the masses.

Special reserve program

All of these techniques were provided and have resulted in high quality green specialty reserve coffee, which the local growers are proud of. And they should be, their coffee has made it into the Starbucks Special Reserve Program 3 years running, for example and for this program they only accept the best and most prestigious coffee. For us its satisfying to see the potential realized, and then recognized, by the world community as Cape Verdeans.

Remote and Rare

The Pico do Fogo volcano, the highest point in Cape Verde, dominates the landscape. Fogo's rich, volcanic soil and high altitudes create an ideal environment for producing full-bodied, sweet coffee. Starbucks Reserve® Cape Verde Fogo Island is no exception. With sparkling acidity and mild florals, it’s an exquisite cup of coffee.

“It [looks] like just an extraordinary place. And then to think that they’re growing coffee there. I just think that’s the most fascinating thing about it. Coffee comes from such far-flung places,” said Anthony Carroll, senior manager of coffee quality.

Through the Starbucks Reserve brand, we’re committed to sourcing coffee from these far-flung places to bring you unique, small-lot coffees.

Industry Revitalized

Although Fogo has a long history with coffee, the industry was neglected for many years. But in 2011, one of our suppliers, Trabocca, visited the island for the first time and saw great potential. With the help of a grant from the Dutch government, they’ve been working to rebuild the industry and establish a strong coffee supply chain. From planting new coffee trees and educating farmers to helping build facilities to process the coffee, Carroll says it’s a serious investment of time.

"There’s a lot of really interesting places that grow coffee already. But then to have the willingness and the adventurous spirit to do something like that, I think that’s really cool." - Anthony Carroll
senior manager, coffee quality - StarBucks

For a second time, we’re proud to share this Starbucks Reserve® coffee from Cape Verde and to continue investing in the reinvigorated coffee community.

“They’ve produced something really, really special,” Carroll said.

Carroll says Cape Verde Fogo Island embodies the mission of Starbucks Reserve — offering rare, exclusive coffees with interesting and unique flavors.

Cape Verdean Coffee Industry-Being Revived To Keep Up With The Growing Market Of Coffee

If it's been a while since you tried Cape Verdean coffee, you may want to try it again. The industry was dying and its being revived, by the likes of Starbucks with its most prestigious reserve coffee brand. Changes in coffee production and an attempt to keep up with the growing market for coffee and gourmet coffee has caused some changes in the coffee coming out of this region. The growing trend of small coffee mills also gives coffees from this region an even larger variety of flavors and qualities, so it might be time to revisit this coffee. Plus the islands have a perfect cimalte for growing coffee. The Cape Verdean islanders have a 300 year tradition of growing coffee.

If you already love Cape Verdean coffee, no doubt it's for the extremely mild, some say perfect, coffee flavor. Very mild with no bitterness, a very balanced flavor that's worst criticism has always been its steadiness. Some have long considered coffee from this region to be fairly bland or boring, non existent. And some of the small to huge coffee-producing farms and mills did make an effort to produce a coffee that would please almost every coffee drinker.

These coffees were typically made from your average Arabica beans and produced on a mass scale. Today, smaller mills are becoming more and more popular in the region. The Cape Verdean coffee produced on these smaller farms are carefully controlled by the mill owner and blended to produce a distinct flavor to set it apart from the other coffee in the area, for example those ground in the volcanic island of Fogo. Even on a small farm, different lots of coffee depending on soil drainage, elevation and other factors are found to have subtle taste differences. Combine that with different roasting temperatures and times, and the range of flavors can be huge.

How the coffee is processed has much to do with the quality and flavor, and each mill uses its own signature process or a combination to create different micro-brands of Cape Verdean coffee. The region has been producing coffee since the early 18th century, with the first type of coffee grown there having come most likely, from Saudi Arabia? Arabica coffee. It isn't long before coffee will become Cape Verdean's largest exported crop, outselling even tobacco, sugar and cacao, not to mention sardines.

The Cape Verdean coffee designed to remain in the country for community, personal or family use rather than be exported is tinted to distinguish it, and falls under government price regulations so that it's much cheaper than the coffee that's exported to the rest of the world. Workers are typically immigrants from nearby countries like Senegal, and the best workers still only make less than, between $10.5 and $20.50 per day, depending on how many baskets they pick. Given the other wages in the area and that the wages are governmentally set, in Cape Verdean, a seasonal worker actually makes a decent living, comparable to other agricultural workers in the area and mainland Africa.

Cape Verdean coffee is still a valuable export crop the world over, especially now that the production has been revived and has become refined and the variety of different types and flavors of coffee coming from the region is so vast. If you're a big fan of Arabica and Arabica blends, you might find that your new favorite type of mild and well-balanced coffee is indeed Cape Verdean coffee.

Many people are interested in learning how they can become their own boss. Most people aren't sure where to start in their journey to start their own business. This article contains tips that can help you get started with your home business and start working for yourself, in no time at all.

Designate a room or an area of a room as your "office" for your home business. It can be a whole room or just a part of another room. Having your own office space will assure all of your business materials are in one spot, and it will help you to be more efficient.

Make sure your web page has the capability to host an e-store. Customers like the convenience of being able to purchase an item over the internet; sometimes it is refreshing to be able to quickly get what you need without interacting with anyone. You will also be able to sell your product to people who would not have a chance to order it otherwise.

Arrange to have a toll free 800 number associated with your home business. Taking this step allows you to keep your personal information private. If your business is successful, having an 800 number also leaves your home number free to take calls from your friends and family, who might have difficulty getting through otherwise.

Before you start your home business, it is very important to have a solid understanding of what you want to do, be able to visualize how you are going to do it, and know what resources you will need to make it happen. The answers to these should not just be in your head but also on paper. Write a business plan! It will not only clarify what you are getting into but also point out where you might be lacking.

Invest in a toll-free number for your home business. An 800 number makes your business look larger, established and professional to customers. It also gives you a way to separate business calls from personal calls so you can "turn off" your business at the end of the day and make time for family.

The name you select for your home business is critically important and will play a large role in determining whether your business succeeds or fails. Your business's name must make sense and be easy for consumers to remember. When deciding on a business name it is also a good idea to find out if the domain name is available. Ideally, your domain name should be the same as your business name.

Manage your time and priorities to allow the main operations to be completed efficiently and properly. This may sound to be obvious, but there are many that fail to realize time and priority management as such an essential practice. Managing time and priorities ensures that you give your main operations the best focus and most efficient care possible.

Most people are interested in starting their own home business and becoming their own boss. However they are not quite sure, how or where they should start. After reading this article, you should have a better idea of how to get started with your own home business and becoming your own boss.
